The University of Sheffield is basically a public research university located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Its history actually traces back to the early foundations of Sheffield Medical School at 1828, then Firth College and then Sheffield Technical College. Other achievements by Professor Piper include the receipt of the University of Sheffield Queen’s Cup and the John Lewis prize for academic excellence.
Professor Robin Evans, current president of the University of Sheffield and previously a professor in the Department of History and Politics was awarded the Order of the British empire. A native of Sheffield, he joined the university as a research fellow in zoology. During his time as a lecturer he co-authored a famous study on the civil war. During his presidency he has been busy working with students outside of his academic area, such as in the field of community development. He has also become one of the most active members of the city’s vibrant academic community, serving as Vice-President for Finance and running the popular University Online webpage.
