New York, USA
Columbia University is one of the many universities in the United States, a member of the Ivy League. Established in 17 54 on the basis of a principle of individual freedom, academic freedom, and academic responsibility, Columbia University prides itself as “the place where generations of leaders have found wisdom and virtue”. It is the only university in the United States, which received a universal acclaim for its distinguished graduates, including men like Martin Luther King, Jr., Henry M Cotton, Ella B. Towson, administrator Dr. William Delbert Dietrich, and many more. Today Columbia University stands among the ranks of some of the finest colleges and universities all over the world.
Columbia University has its main campus in New York City and also has satellite campuses in London and Wellington, New Zealand. There are approximately 5 million undergraduate and graduate students who attend Columbia University. Columbia University has a rich historical background and is home to a famous faculty and student body. This distinguished group of students includes prominent figures in American politics, artists, writers, sports figures, and academicians, such as Columbia University scholars like John Kennedy, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Columbia University faculty members like Lee B. Weinstein, psychiatrist and writer Edward Said, and former vice president George Kennedy. A number of prominent media personalities also studied at Columbia University including Oliver Stone, Katharine Hepburn, director Peter Allen Cooney, and author Norman Ollestad.
Apart from academics and courses, Columbia University has a lot to offer its students. Apart from classes and lectures, the university also offers recreational activities and events. One such popular event is the Columbia University Fraternity and Sorority Spring Carnival, which are held in the Great Hall, Room 401. The carnival is filled with live music, games, food, and other attractions. Other events include a costume party, the Columbia Women’s Theater Festival, a New York Film Festival, and more.
Students also have many options when it comes to housing on the Columbia campus. They have two dorms to choose from-one on campus and another on the South campus. They also have many shared housing arrangements for students, ranging from dormitories to shared off-campus apartments. They also have private single and family rooms that are privately owned by current and former university employees.
Housing accommodations range from traditional dormitories to apartment buildings. Columbia University has also opened up its campus to students who are not staying on the main campus. One such student is Michael Reynolds, who moved to Columbia University from Boston, Massachusetts after attending Hampshire College. He now lives in the Science Center on the Main Campus. He enjoys studying architecture, science, and math and is majoring in mechanical engineering.
Living on the Main Campus allows students the opportunity to get to know the campus as well as the rest of the community. They can walk or bike to all of their classes and are close to the Columbia Union. Those living off campus however are closer to the business area where they can access the many stores and shops located on Broad Street. The neighborhoods surrounding the campus are also very appealing to students who are looking for a place to raise their family.
It is important for students living on campus to be fully aware of their neighbors and to respect them. Students living in shared areas must first obtain the necessary permissions to enter the property of other students. Some places also have strict rules on noise level and pets. If the students living off campus do not follow these rules and regulations, they could cause trouble for the residents of the properties and be sent to the principal’s office for a reprimand.
New students can learn about the many programs that Columbia University offers while they are in their dorms. They can also learn about many of the different clubs and organizations that are available on campus. These associations can help to reduce the many stress factors that some students face each day. All of these associations work together to provide the students with an experience that will help them become successful once they begin attending classes.
